What a remarkable story.

A woman in Florida discovered Harper, an eight-week-old Pit Bull puppy whose owner put her into a trash bag, to suffocate her young life, because she appeared deformed.

That woman, Erica Daniel, of Dolly’s Foundation, came to Harper’s rescue – and saved her precious life, even when veterinarians thought she should be euthanized.

Three weeks later, thanks to medical assistance that was donated by Bev McCartt, a therapist with Hip Dog Canine Hydrotherapy & Fitness in Winter Park, Fla., Harper is thriving, as you can see in the picture above.

NBC tells the story here.  A short video about baby Harper:

One aspect of the story really grabbed my attention: That the main cause for concern was that Harper laid out in a flat position (left), and basically never learned to walk.  The reason this caught my eye is because as a four/five month old, Shayna did something quite similar when we’d come in from romping around on a hot day (right):

What a remarkable tale of two womens’ generosity, thoughtfulness and love for animals — and baby Harper’s will to live.
